Trish DeCaprio, Craniosacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics. Using a soft touch practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues (fascia connective tissue) that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it's effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. 60-90 min/$110
I am here to hold sacred, safe space filled with love, peace and light for you in CranioSacral Therapy and Somato Emotional Release work. I encourage you to ask questions, be curious and interested as you listen to your heart and to your deep inner wisdom as they respond and as you trust and follow your path to where you are meant to go.
After six years in the corporate world of sales and marketing I followed my heart and intuition and began a career in spa therapy, body work and holistic health and wellness. 20 years later, with 12 years in private practice, I am happier than ever with this path I was guided to. I am passionate about optimal health and wellness and practice present minded, peaceful, joyful living. I am open minded, curious and dedicated to continuing education in the healing arts. I enjoy sharing information and supporting others as they find what is right for them. I believe that all is one therefore when we help others we help everything that exists.
Like many practitioners in the healing arts I have been guided by personal challenges and have learned a great deal through these experiences. “One thorn of experience is worth a whole wilderness of warning” wrote James Russell Lowell. When I encountered CranioSacral Therapy I found that it touched me like no other therapy had. Six years in practice with CST has deepened my relationship with myself and it has deepened my understanding of how to gently support the body as it brings itself back to where it is meant to be.
The symptoms, stresses, strains, and dis-ease that show up in our bodies, minds and souls are all “check engine” signals indicating something or many things are out of balance. The body is always working in our best interest to keep the balance and to protect us. It serves us well to thank our body for how well it does this every second of every day. When we minimize doing to the body and instead work with its natural rhythms we support its innate ability and we find the body is smart, adaptable, capable and quite resilient beyond our imagination!
CraniosSacral Therapy supports the body to self correct and release restrictions, burdens, stress and trauma. In session with you I listen, watch and follow the spinal fluid rhythm, the cardiac rhythm and the respiratory rhythm. Simultaneously, I evaluate restrictions in the body by connecting with the fascia tissue (connective tissue) and the electromagnetic field of the body, sometimes off body - sometimes on body, with varying degrees of light to moderate pressure. Restrictions are often deeply connected on a cellular level to the central nervous system and to the subconscious mind. In a safe, supportive atmosphere the body, mind and soul can deeply relax, and literally unwind fascia restrictions as the sub-conscious decides that it is safe to release what it has been holding on to.
TRAINING & EDUCATION
I mentor with and continue to train and educate with Don Ash, CranioSacral Alliance - Rochester, NH, the Upledger Institute - FL, Reiki Master Jennifer Dewar - Billerica, MA, Osteopath Dr. T.J. Macari - Lynnfield, MA, Dentist Dr. Philip Koralishn - Wakefield, MA and Chiropractor Dr. Jonathan Streit - Wichita, KS.
I read all that I can on many modalities of holistic health, wellness and preventative care. I am particularly drawn to The Mind Body Connection/Power Of The Subconscious Mind, Dental/Oral System Balancing, Ayurvedic nutrition, and vibrational therapies such as homeopathy, bio-resonance scanning and biosonics (sound therapy with tuning forks) and meridian work, and understanding our DNA, epigenetics, and miasms. There is a lot more fascinating continuing education to come on my path!
I receive regular therapies in many, different modalities in the world of the healing arts. The more work we do for ourselves, the more burdens we lift, the deeper understanding we have and the more space we are able to hold to help others find their way.
I encourage clients to receive therapies of all kinds from other practitioners as there are many ways to bring the body to where it is meant to be. We each have to find what resonates for our unique body and circumstances.
