Introduction to Meditation: A Four-Week Series with Adam Groff

October 25-November 15, Mondays 7-8pm

In this weekly series, participants will be introduced to the basics of mindfulness meditation drawn from the Buddhist tradition. The focus will be on mindfulness of the body and the breath, with reference to variants such as lovingkindness meditation, along with an exploration of why we meditate. Each class will include a period of instruction or reflection, 30 minutes of guided meditation, and an opportunity to ask questions or share experiences as a group.

This series will be offered both In-Person and Online. Online registrants will receive a zoom link prior to the start of the series. Cost $75 for series or $20 drop-in (please register ahead for class).

Adam Groff has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 2009, beginning at the Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport. He helped coordinate a weekly peer-led meditation group in Boston from 2010 to 2015, and in 2014 he completed a yearlong meditation facilitator training with Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society. Also in 2014, he helped found the sangha that became Boston Meditation Center, now based in Somerville. Adam offers his time at BMC as a meditation facilitator and retreat manager, and he sits weeklong retreats each year with lay teachers and monastics in the vipassana/Theravada tradition.
